Evaluation and Purchasing

Licensing
  • Do you have any royalties or per-seat end user charges?
    • Absolutely not. There are never any end user licenses or royalties regardless of the number of end users in your application. Our developer tools are only licensed on your local development machine.

  • Are there any deployment costs?
    • No, our desktop and mobile products have free and unlimited runtime licenses. Our web products have free and unlimited server licenses. Both are generated by your developers using the Product Center. Even if your subscription has expired, you can still generate runtime licenses and server licenses for any versions of our components that were released at the time your subscription expired.

  • How are your developer components licensed?
    • ThinkGeo Desktop, Web and Mobile are licensed on a yearly subscription model per developer.
    • Developers that want to view and interact with the map while running in the debugger need a license.
    • Developers that do not need to use the map while debugging can use a free and perpetual runtime license and debug all features in their codebase except for the map component which will be blank.

  • How is ThinkGeo Cloud licensed?
    • ThinkGeo Cloud is licensed based on the number of API transactions per day. There are no per-user charges or licenses. Plans start at $495/month or $4,995/year for 100,000 transactions per day. More details can be found here.

  • Can I reassign my subscription to another developer on my team?
    • Yes, we understand that developers are frequently assigned to different teams, and we can easily move the license to another user.

  • Do I get access to current versions and also previous versions with my subscription?
    • Yes, all active licenses will have access to the current version as well as older versions.

  • Does my build server need a subscription?
    • No, there is no need for a subscription on your build server. For Web deployments, you can use the CLI version of our Product Center to generate your server license. For Desktop or Mobile, you can use a pre-generated runtime license and there is no need to re-generate this during the build and deployment process. You can download the Product Center from the helpdesk

  • Where can I view your Licensing Agreement?
    • You can view our Licensing Agreement here. If you have any questions, please email us at sales@thinkgeo.com or give us a call at 1-214-449-0330.

Documentation and Support
  • Where can I view your Documentation?

  • Do you have product-specific FAQs?

  • Where do I go to get technical support?
    • If your license is current, simply go to our helpdesk and submit a help desk ticket and our support team will begin working on the ticket the day it is submitted. Our community forums are also open to everyone even if their license is expired. And finally, we always look forward to talking with our customers directly and you can always reach us at: support@thinkgeo.com or 1-214-449-0330

  • How much support can I expect?
    • For our current customers, each license comes with 5 helpdesk tickets per year. Additional tickets can be arranged on request.
    • For perspective customers, we offer one-on-one support during your evaluation. You can email support@thinkgeo.com or sales@thinkgeo.com directly.
    • For past customers that have not renewed their subscription, we still offer free and unlimited support through our Community Forums.

  • Do you offer training or professional services?
    • Yes, you can meet with one of our experienced developers in any format that works best for your team. Whether it's informal Q&A, structured training, pair coding or full-time staff augmentation and outsourcing. There are no minimum hour requirements and the standard rate is $150/hr.

  • What happens when my subscription expires?
    • If your subscription expires, you can still generate new runtime and server licenses using the Product Center or CLI. Deployed applications will still not be affected by an expired subscription. However, when debugging your application in your local development environment, the map will be blank.

  • What is the Product Center?
    • The Product Center is our one-stop application for activating and managing your developer license and generating runtime and server licenses. There is a standard UI version as well as a CLI version that can be used on Linux, Mac and build servers. The current Product Center and all previous versions can be downloaded from the helpdesk.

  • What if my question is not listed above?
    • Just email us at sales@thinkgeo.com or give us a call at 1-214-449-0330 and we will be happy to answer any other questions you may have. We always look forward to hearing from our customers!
